How to Handle a Product Recall
Every company will at some point have to deal with some degree of product recall, or the forced return of all of a specific type of product. This can happen for a variety of reasons and will require a variety of different actions to help your company through this process and get back to business as usual.
As one can imagine, a product recall is expensive and embarrassing for a company, leading to varying levels of bad PR. The best way to handle this is to embrace the problem and do everything you can to minimize the impact it has on customers. Money will have to be refunded or products will have to be repaired and returned, which will also cost the company time and money. It’s also a good strategy, depending on the product itself, to offer your customers new models of that product for free, or a gift card to make up for the inconvenience.
